BORDERING ON THE INCREDIBLE

Hello Again Everyone:

It is bordering on the incredible for me to expect anyone to take me seriously when I have spent 33 years of my life driving a taxi.   Surely if I had gained any knowledge about how the human mind functions, I would have proven it by shouldering more responsibility and I would have become more economically successful.

The shortest answer is that indeed I entertained such thoughts but I wanted to concentrate my  attention on learning as much as I possibly could about how
the human mind functions, rather than becoming more distracted by earning as much money as I possibly could to support myself and my family.

It is my pleasant responsibility to thank all of the brilliant authors [and some not so brilliant], who taught me what I know  about psychology with their books during all of those years.

Dr. Forgione M.D. in particular, came within an Ace of putting forward the ideas that are contained in my book.  It is my firm belief that my ideas are simply a distillation of the ideas put forward by the aforementioned brilliant authors.

The question still remains simply this:  What should I do to get the recognition for my ideas which they so richly deserve?   The answer  seems self-evident.  I must somehow get an established author of psychiatric principles to co-author such a book with me.  I am hoping that Peter R. Breggin M.D. is that person.

GUESSING ABOUT BILL COSBY

Hello:

The latest woman to come forward, whose last name is Ladd opens this saga up to some rather interesting possibilities.  Since the lady woke up in one of Cosby's friends apartment, if that person comes forward to collaborate her story, Cosby's facade of innocence would quickly disappear.

However, there is one rather large point in
Cosby's favor.   If the friend is also married he probably would not want to blow his own cover by underlining the validity of Mrs. Ladd's story.

Then again, this situation could easily backfire on Bill Cosby.  Some people in his position become over-confident and if his "friend" was taken advantage of by Cosby in some other scenario, he might just be willing to deal with all the negatives just to get 'even" with our pal Cos. Stay tuned and find out the next installment of --- The Sadist and The Saint.

ANXIETYZONE,COM

Hello Everyone:

I joined anxietyzone.com and entered the chat room to offer some humorous comments and eventually try to help some of the people who were asking for help.

From time to time I would enter my personal email address or suggest that the person or persons that I was talking to come into this site here and read my book.   This behavior was in direct conflict with the rules and I agree with the fact that I was barred from the site.

However, at no time did Grey Goose, the owner of the site, tell me directly that I was guilty of breaking the rules as stated in the Rules of Conduct.  Once again this is my fault.

I did not read the full text of the R.O.C.  After all, they seem to go on forever anyway.  But he could have warned me that I was wrong and that would have given me the chance to change my behavior.

My last message in particular was one of special value to everyone and I am left wondering if Grey Goose's first priority is to remain the top dog on the website he created rather than actually to help people.

Of course this assumes that he accepts the fact that a nobody like me who actually drove a taxi for a living would end up being smarter than some psychiatrists who spent their entire lives trying to help people.

If you go to youtube and click in --- Glory Enough For All, --- eventually you will find the scene where Banting first brought his idea about trying to find the hormone Insulin.

Proffessor McCleod says in effect, --- "What makes you think you can solve this problem when brilliant scientists have spent their entire lives going up one blind alley after another.   With all due respect mind you, --- you are only a country Doctor."

Guess what, I'm not even a Doctor of any kind but I have found a deeper level of understanding about how the human mind functions and dammed if no one will believe me.

C'est la vie; but I will keep trying as long as I continue to breath and can write.  Eventually someone will see the value in the ideas that I am trying to put forward.   That is life also.

A PUBLISHER BY ANY OTHER NAME

Hello Everyone:

Dorrance Publishing has eliminated itself from the opportunity to publish --- The Human Mind book. While it prefers to call itself a Subsidy press in reality it is a Vanity Press.

If the book that it is publishing fails, then they make a substantial profit.  If it succeeds, they make even more money by severely and unfairly restricting the author's chances to make a decent return from his or her own creation.

While I thought that someone at Dorrance must have seen some value in the book,  by Mary Ferragonio's words, they are not allowed to look at ones blog which is the only way they could see my manuscript.

If Mary's information is correct than that means that they simply offered to publish it because I asked about getting it published.   I want someone who has read the book and understands why it is so valuable.

Mr. Bill Berger at Dorrance has apparently read some of, or perhaps all of the book.   Otherwise he would not have suggested that I read a book entitled -------- and written by one of Dorrance's other successful authors.

Unfortunately the text of that book was so small that I could not read it. I suspect that a phenomena which I write about in my book probably applies to this story.   I call it the two fears colliding theory.

The one fear was of death itself and the other was becoming a leader or some one in authority.  Usually a person goes through one of the fears, usually the lesser of the two.

In that case the lesser of the two would obviously be stepping up to a leadership role.   It is important to realize that there is no destiny involved here.  There is no success that was written in the stars.

She survived and is here to tell us about it.  Others faced this same kind of double fear but they either didn't survive, or if they did, they chose for one reason or the other not to write a book about it.   So in effect, these last couple of paragraphs represent my thanks to Bill Berger for his response to my book.

AND THE WINNER IS??

Hello Everyone:

Cortney Harms seems like she might be losing consciousness but she is hanging on and crosses the finish line as the unofficial winner of the Sweepstakes race which makes Dorrance Publishing the favourite in negotiations to publish the Human Mind book.

Oh my God!  A few seconds after finishing the race, Cortney has fallen off of the horse and appears to be badly injured.   It looks like  Mary Ferragonio will join Mr. David Zeolla in the winners circle to accept this prestigious award.

Four other horses started this race.   For some strange reason Wiley & Sons dropped out of the race midway down the back stretch.  A lady by the name of Patricia Rossi, from Wiley’s offices in Hoboken gave the following, yet confusing, reason for quitting.   Wiley’s is not interested in “thinking” pieces.  --- So be it.

The other 3 have not been heard from yet.  It was suggested to  Penquin Random House in New York that if they were unable to ascertain the actual value of the book, that one of their author’s, namely J.J. Levitin, who wrote the book called, --- The Organized  Mind,  should, in all probability see the value therein.

Similarly, it was suggested that another author whose name escapes me at this time, [perhaps McCrea or McCoy] wrote the book called simply, --- The Brain,  and he could do likewise for Oxford  Press in Toronto.    The third party, Houghton Mifflin Hargrove, from their office in Montreal, were instructed to find a cognitive behavioural therapist who realizes the importance of fear in determining human behaviour.

This procedure will of course take time but nevertheless, these three entities will be required to offer this author, [Stephen Adams] a signing bonus if they wish to re-enter the publishing negotiations.

A new entity that entered the picture when Cortney was experiencing physical problems in deep stretch is now also involved.   Their name is createspace.com and we will be hearing from them also in the future.  Stay tuned for further particulars as these important negotiations continue.  We will certainly keep you abreast of any new developments in this rather fluid situation.

THE LEADING HORSE IS DEEP IN THE STRETCH NOW.

Welcome to the approaching end of the race.

Something seems to be wrong with the jockey on Dorrance, she is actually wobbling in the stretch as if she might fall off.  Only about 600 yards to go now and as long as Cortney Harms, Dorrance's Jockey, doesn't fall off the horse, they appear to be home free.

A DEEPER LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING

HELLO EVERYONE:

On Friday Jan. 16/2015 on page 24 of the Toronto Sun newspaper, ASK AMY printed an article that she entitled, --- "Always dating Mr. Wrong."   Amy's advice to "Dear Looking" was at best ineffective and otherwise obtuse.

Let me set it up for you in a different form because here on this blog we don't have to conform to the limitations of space as one must do in a newspaper.  After all, advertising comes first.

First of all, the lady in question is in her early thirties and wants to find a man in response to her biological inner time clock that is in stress mode as she approaches her 40's.   These feelings are not only normal but they are exemplary also.

However, because she has waited so long, her choices are rather limited.   Her latest "loser" is already married with multiple children, a bad economic situation and a nasty temper and yet, in her words, he has found another woman to share his life with.

He sent her a text message saying that she was too fast for him and that he was moving on.  "Still looking" is wasting her time blaming herself for this dilemma.

What he really meant was that he was looking for someone who he could take advantage of and she wanted to get married and have a baby and that is what he was referring to when he said that she was "too fast" for him.

She should send him the following text message:

Hello to my Ex.

Thank you for getting me out of a wasted relationship with you.  My concerns are for the poor woman who has accepted you under the false belief that you can help her with her situation when in reality you want to be able to lean on someone indefinitely.   Please do me the honor of never trying to get in touch with me again.

Signed, "The Winner."

Of course the other problem here is that the lady has waited too long to find a mate.  Perhaps she wanted to establish a good career and be economically stable before starting a marriage and although these thoughts have value they also carry burdens with them which this lady has been experiencing with her potential "boy friends."

My younger brother found the perfect girl for him and they were in their late thirties.  On a dare, she phoned him and suggested a date.  I believe you, [Dear Looking], have to consider such a bold move on your part also.

If a man is still single in his thirties, among many reasons for this situation to occur, one of them could be a high level of shyness.   Men in particular can be overcome by the fear of rejection and this  can lead to a lack of confidence when it comes to asking an individual of the opposite sex to go out on a date with them.

It's time for a little bit of humor here.  This Russian comic was on stage doing his act when he informed his audience that he was going to get married in the near future.

Someone in the audience called out: --- "Have you got a date."   The comic replied as follows:  "This is what I like about America.  Here I am about to get married and I am allowed to bring a date with me to my wedding."

The next date you have young lady, let it be at your suggestion.  I think females can take rejection better than men but since I am only a man, perhaps I am wrong.

That leads me to this question.  If I think that I am good enough to give better advice than someone like, --- DEAR AMY, why did I spend all those years driving a taxi?

Maybe I was wrong, maybe I should have got a better job, but I wanted to concentrate all of my skills on learning how the human mind functions so I could write a book that would give my fellow travelers through this life a better chance at happiness and knowledge which in reality go hand in hand.  Thank you for your personal perseverance in your determination to read this elongated blog Post.

IN THE STRETCH

The horses have now entered the last turn and are headed  for the top of the stretch.   Dorrance has maintained a comfortable lead and unless the other 3 horses make a bold move, Dorrance appears to have the race won.

We haven’t heard from Dorrance for awhile and one of two things is probably happening.  Either Dorrance is attempting to complete the actions that I put forward to them, or they have stated their situation to me and are waiting to see if I will come back to reality and accept their offer.

If the second one of the above “conditions” is true then, I must behave in a manner that is consistent with one of the poems that appear in my book, namely the poem called, --- "If."  The line from the poem that is appropriate to this situation goes like this:  “I must make allowance for their doubting too.”

In this regard, and if Dorrance wins the race, I will accept their decision to charge me for publishing the book.  I await their instructions on what conditions they will ask for and how much they intend to charge me for their services.

We are now in deep stretch and the finish line is in site.   Either Penguin Random House, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt or Oxford Press make an exceptionally bold move in the immediate future or Dorrance will be declared the winner.

HURRAY FOR OUR SIDE

Hello One And All:

Where did the expression Hurray for our side come from?  Or how did it get started?  One explanation for this expression is as follows, --- although I cannot verify if this is the truth or just another story that was made up to suit the occasion.

A long time ago Lady Godiva rode naked through the Main Street of the town where she lived on the back of a horse.  The guys on each side of the street would call out in their glee:  "Hurray for our side."

THE MEDICINAL POWER OF LAUGHTER

Hello Everyone: --- [Even if you are the only one.]

A million years ago, I watched George Carlin on the Ed Sullivan show.   You couldn’t use vulgarity and/or swear on TV back then.   Nevertheless, George had plenty of excellent material.   His skit had him playing the part of a TV newsman doing the local news in a small town.  Here is his one-line gem.

“Stranger in town, run over by welcome wagon.”

___________________________________

Just an aside in here.   Wiley & Sons has broken down and is no longer in the race.   Dorrance is leading by a considerable margin and we are still waiting to hear from the other three contenders from New York, Montreal and Toronto.   We are now entering into the far turn headed for the stretch and the finish line.

JO[NT EFFORT AGAINST THE JIHADISTS

HELLO EVERYONE:

One of the many different responses that the Western World could entertain in answer to the murderous Jihadist violence, would be for every newspaper that abhors this violence to choose a day in the near future where every single one of them would print the same cartoon against the Prophet Mohammed.

Any system, religious or otherwise, that cannot attract or keep followers without resorting to violence, disqualifies itself from the very sanctity and honesty that it pretends to embrace.

STILL IN THE BACKSTRETCH

Hello Race Fans:

One difference in this "horse" race is that the actual distance of the race is not annouced in advance.  In this regard then, it doesn't appear to be a sprint.

Dorrance Publishing has retained the lead but we are still in the backstretch.   Wiley & Sons is trailing the field and appears to have dropped out of contention but one never knows for sure.   The other 3 contenders have not been heard from as yet.  Stay tuned for future developments.

THE PUBLISHING SWEEPSTAKES

Hello One and All:

In the race to see which Publisher will become the pre-eminent one here in North America and beyond, it appears as if Dorrance Publishing of Pittsburg has taken the early lead.   Especially if you go by the number of people who have contacted me from each of the 5 publishers that are in the running thus far.

First, I was in contact with Amanda Schutzman at Dorrance.  I presume that she must have had the ear of the President of that company because I quickly heard from Mr. David Zeoila also.  Subsequently he passed me off to a Mr. Bill Berger who in turn passed me off to Cortney Harms.

Just this morning, January 6, 2015, I received an email from Mr. David Zeoila informing me that my book has been accepted for publication by Dorrance in accordance with the conditions that I am willing to accept, if indeed I do accept them.

I have also heard from Andrea at the Toronto office of Wylie &     Sons Publishing.   Although I haven’t heard from Penquin – Random House yet, they can still bring in an author from the bull pen, Dr. D.J. Levitin, who wrote the book called, --- The Organized Mind,  to authenticate the ideas that I have put forward in my book if they so desire.

A similar opportunity is afforded to Oxford Press for their office in Toronto on Samson Mews.  Their author of interest would be Dr. Michael O’Shea who wrote the book called simply, --- The Brain.

The fifth  publisher in the running is Houghton, Mifflin, Harcourt in Montreal who are at a disadvantage at this time because I only contacted them a  day or two ago.

In any event, the stretch run still lies before us and the eventual winner has yet to be decided.   I could tell you that I am in no hurry to determine who the winner is but if I did so, I would not be telling you the truth.

As a result of my book, the world at large could find itself dealing with far less stress and tension in the form of anxiety and other issues that can be overcome by the proper approach to  the emotion of fear.  In closing let me say this:  “We have nothing to fear except our lack of understanding of fear itself.”

Yours in truth,

Stephen Adams  [Steve]
